From the Help menu, click Configure Update Options.
The Update Settings window allows you to change default settings for how you connect to iolo's Internet server to check for product updates; this includes the ability to set up connections for a proxy server.
The window initially displays two fields: Automatically check for updates at startup and Connect through a proxy server.
By default, the "Automatically check for updates at startup" check box is selected; every time you open the application, System Mechanic connects to the Internet and checks for updates.
To turn off the automatic checking, clear the check box. You can still check for updates when you wish, by clicking Check for Product Updates from the Help menu.
To return to having System Mechanic automatically check for updates, select the check box.
By default, the "Connect through a proxy server" check box is cleared.
If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, select the check box. Once selected, the following fields appear, allowing you to enter information about the proxy server.
Server address. Enter the IP address or domain address of the proxy server.
Port. Enter the port number of the proxy server.
Requires username and password. Select the check box if the proxy server requires authentication. Once selected, the Username and Password fields appear. Type in the appropriate username and password.
Clear the check box if you do not connect through a proxy server.
